Asbestos Management Surveys
(Type 2) Asbestos Surveys
Are you searching for asbestos surveyors to provide Asbestos Management Surveys? Asbestos surveys are required by law because of the high risks associated with exposure to asbestos.
Asbestos Management Surveys – previously called Type 2 Surveys – are the most common type of asbestos survey. Its purpose is to locate, as far as reasonably practicable, the presence and extent of any asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) within a building. This survey aims to establish the presence of any asbestos that could be damaged or disturbed during normal occupancy, including any maintenance or installing new equipment, such as changing lightbulbs.
The Health and Safety Executive states that any Management Survey aims to ensure that:
- No one is harmed by the continuing presence of asbestos
- ACMs remain in a good condition
- Nobody disturbs the ACMs by mistake
Once this survey has been completed, this can be used to create the property’s asbestos register so that the condition and presence of asbestos can be monitored. This is used to mitigate the risk of staff, tenants, or occupants being exposed to asbestos fibres.
